Austria's Wittmann Group has completed the first stage of its two stage plan for further production capacity in its robots and automation solutions business. The completion of stage one will result in an overall production output of 4,200 robots a year, according to the Vienna-based company.
The assembling and start-up capacities for small devices at Wittmann's Hungarian production plant have been increased as part of this development. The plant makes W808 and W818 robot models which can handle a payload of up to 3 kg or 6 kg respectively.
The second stage of Wittmann's plan involves the expansion of robot production at the group's Vienna headquarters with the target of completion set for January 2016. The increase will be matched by the growth in the production capacity of the company's U.S. assembly facility in Torrington, Conn.
Completion of the second stage will see overall annual production output of 4,500 robots per year, according to Wittmann.
Wittmann Group consists of two main divisions, Wittmann Battenfeld and Wittmann, which operate 10 production facilities in seven countries, including 30 direct subsidiary offices worldwide.
