Plastic Molding Manufacturing Inc. recently added two-shot molding capability to its ISO Class 8-certified clean room in Hudson, Mass., installing an Arburg 110-ton machine.
The machine is targeted for medical and health care market applications and can be used for such products as external/feeding components, drug filtrations and insulin delivery devices.
Plastic Molding has a 5,000-square-foot clean room that is also equipped with standard horizontal clamp presses as well as a vertical rotary shuttle table for insert overmolding. All are in a climate-controlled environment.
The company has worked with two-shot molding for years at its Berlin, Conn., facility, which was formerly known as Northeast Mold & Plastics. It currently runs four two-shot molding machines in Berlin.
Plastic Molding has three facilities, including an operation in Lancaster, Pa. It celebrated its 45th anniversary last year.
