Total Cray Valley has debuted an additive that it says improves mechanical properties of polyethylene.
The Exton, Pa., company's Dymalink 9100 boosts yield strength, impact modulus and heat deflection temperature without significantly affecting density. PE's fast crystallization rate has limited nucleation as a way to improve mechanical properties, Total Cray Valley explains. Low loading levels of Dymalink 9100 provide a way to improve the properties without a marked increase in density.
Addition of 1 to 2 percent Dymalink 9100 can increase stiffness and heat deflection temperature of high density PE by 20 to 30 percent, according to Total Cray Valley global business development manager Anthony Maroszan.
