An environmental group, known in part for its recent efforts to push for more pouch recycling, has a new leader.
Upstream's previous associate director, Matt Prindiville, became the group's new executive director effective July 1.
“He brings a wealth of technical knowledge on creating and implementing legislation as well as real-world practical experience in running successful advocacy campaigns,” said Upstream Board President Mark Hays in a statement.
Bill Sheehan founded Upstream in 2003 and leaves as executive director. He will remain on staff for the rest of this year as a senior advisor, the group said.
Upstream previously was known as the Product Policy Institute before changing its name in 2013.
Prindiville has been the force behind the Make It, Take It campaign which is trying to put pressure on consumer goods companies to take responsibility for their packaging waste. An early target in that campaign has been Capri Sun pouches.
