TROISDORF, GERMANY — FDM, which makes material handling equipment for extrusion, is more than doubling its manufacturing space in Germany, by moving into a 20,400-square-foot plant in a Troisdorf industrial park.
Operations began in Troisdorf July 1. The site has a lot of room for expansion.
FDM is a unit of Piovan SpA, the Italian auxiliary equipment manufacturer. FDM makes dosing systems and resin silos, serving feeding systems for pellets, recycled materials and powder, gravimetric dosing systems and complete material handling systems for PVC recycling and compounds.
FDM moved from its smaller building in Koenigswinter, Germany.
The new factory will enable FDM to improve its engineering services and systems supply, reduce lead times and have the flexibility to expand, company officials said.
“This new production facility is the result of our efforts to further optimize the manufacturing activities, by concentrating them in a higher-performance factory, so to guarantee increased productivity, efficiency and sustainability,” said Guido Faust, general manager of FDM.
