Polyethylene sheet foam and closed cell plank foam producer Pregis LLC says it has expanded its manufacturing operations in Chihuahua, Mexico, although it declined July 16 to be specific about the size of the investment.
“Pregis is in a unique position” to supply the protective packaging required by Mexico's fast growing manufacturing sector, said Kevin Baudhuin, the Deerfield, Ill.-based company's CEO, in a news release.
According to the release, Pregis is interested in supplying Mexico's automotive, consumer electronics, agriculture, aerospace and fulfillment industries in particular.
“Pregis' systems will help higher-volume Mexican businesses improve production efficiencies and reduce floor space needed to store protective packaging inventories,” it added.
A company spokeswoman said financial aspects of the expansion were confidential. She did not have other details, such as the size of the Mexican facility, available.
Olympus Partners of Stamford, Conn., purchased Pregis's North American business from international private equity company AEA Investors LP in 2014.
