Steve Braig has left Trexel Inc., where he was president and CEO, and is starting his own consulting firm to advise plastics processors and equipment companies that want to establish overseas markets and operations.
Braig's firm is called Eventus Global LLC, based in Reisterstown, Md.
He has 25 years of executive experience in the plastics and capital equipment industries, including previous stints at Nypro Inc., Euro Packaging LLC and Engel Machinery Inc.
He joined Trexel, which developed and commercialized the MuCell microcellular process, in 2010. He left Trexel June 30, at the end of the company's fiscal year.
He said he was seeking a career change, and a position with a strategic and consulting work.
Trexel has not named his replacement yet, but said in a news release that it has hired an executive search firm to help in the search.
Eventus Global advises U.S.-based plastics processors and equipment companies in getting business overseas, either by establishing a subsidiary or creating new sales channels and strategic partnerships. Eventus also will advise European companies in establishing U.S. subsidiaries or improving existing U.S. operations.
During his tenure at Trexel, the company has increased its sales, expanded in Europe and established subsidiaries in Japan and China. MuCell has gained a high profile in the automotive industry as a way to reduce weight in plastic parts.
“Small and mid-sized companies don't necessarily have the experience to do business in Europe and Asia,” Braig said. He said he has had discussions with several companies.
He also is offering his services to established companies for assignments to boards of directors and advisory boards.
