NEW YORK — Plastics News won two top awards — a gold and a silver — in a competition that recognizes outstanding business journalism.
The American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE) gave Plastics News a gold Azbee award for its Plastics News Now webcasts, and a silver Azbee for its daily issues from the Fakuma trade show.
The awards were announced July 24 in New York.
ASBPE says its Azbee Awards of Excellence program is one of the most competitive contests for business-to-business, trade, association, and professional publications. The awards recognize outstanding work by magazines, newsletters and digital media.
PNN won the top prize in the category for webcast series. Named on the award are Jeremy Carroll, assistant managing editor & video editor; Rhoda Miel, news editor; and Kerri Jansen, staff reporter.
“This is our first of what I expect to be many awards for our outstanding webcasts,” said Editor Don Loepp. “Our entire PN editorial team is contributing to our video reports, and we're all proud of the work by Jeremy, Kerri and Rhoda."
The Plastics News editorial staff shares the silver award for the Fakuma show dailies, which were published Oct. 14, 15 and 17 and distributed to attendees at the Fakuma trade show in Friedrichshafen, Germany. PN worked with sister publications Plastics & Rubber Weekly and Plastics News Europe on the Fakuma dailies.
Plastics News is a repeat winner in the show daily category. PN has won gold, silver and bronze awards, respectively, for its NPE show dailies in 2000, 2006 and 2012, as well as a silver national Azbee for its 2001 Plastics USA show dailies.
This isn't the end of the Azbee competition announcements for 2015. PN is a finalist for four regional awards, which will be announced Aug. 13. Those include awards for PNN, the Fakuma dailies, our 25th anniversary special issue; and a company profile.
