Sipa SpA has sold three Xform PET preform production systems to San Miguel Industrias PET, based in Lima, Peru.
Sipa first installed two of its high-output Xform 500 lines to make preforms for carbonated soft drinks in the Lima factory. That led the company to order a third Xform 500, which Sipa delivered to the company's subsidiary in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
The first two units run molds of 96 and 128 cavities. The third one, for Ecuador, is equipped with one of Sipa's new GEN3 molds, with 144 cavities, and it has second-generation, high-speed cooling robots that reduce cycle times.
Sipa's own end-of-arm tooling can be configured with three or four cooling stages. A new system ensures there are no blockages in the cooling tubes, eliminating the need for photocells.
The new cooling robots also accept legacy end-of-arm tooling.
In addition to the investment in preform systems, San Miguel Industrias runs a total of 12 Sipa blow molding machines.
Sipa is based in Vittorio Veneto, Italy. SIPA North America Inc. is in Atlanta.
