Swiss thermoforming machinery maker WM Wrapping Machinery SA has installed an FC 1000E Speedmaster Plus in the cleanroom of the French company Carolux-Thiers, part of the Top Clean Packaging group.
WM Wrapping said this is the largest vacuum and pressure forming form-cut-stack machine, with a steel rule cut — and the first of this model sold into France. The FC 1000E Speedmaster Plus can run forming molds as large as 421 inches by 29.5 inches.
The clamping force is 60 metric tons. Platen stroke is 6.2 inches. A servo-driven plug movement is fitted to the upper platen, equipped with a digital control to monitor the clamping force. The final product is cut from the sheet on a second inline press, which has a clamping force of 105 tonnes.
Both platens are equipped with an X-Y adjustment and hearted plates for the cutting knives. The stacking operation uses a three-axis robot, which enables the machine to handle products with complex shapes.
A sensor reads the actual sheet temperature in the heating oven, which has upper and lower heaters.
WM Wrapping Machinery is based in Stabio, Switzerland. In the United States, the company is based at Elkhorn Tech Center in Elkhorn, Wis.
