A Belgian pet products manufacturer is set to establish its first U.S. manufacturing operations in Gaffney, S.C.
Moderna Products of Izegem, Belgium, which makes and distributes plastic items including pet carriers and food bowls, will spend $6.5 million to launch injection molding operations in an existing 116,000-square-foot facility off Interstate 85 in Cherokee County, according to a news release from the South Carolina Department of Commerce.
The South Carolina location will allow the company to shorten its supply chain and better serve its growing North American customer base, CEO Barte Bonte said in a statement.
The company plans to hire 35 over the next five years. The Gaffney facility is expected to be operational in late 2015.
