Just over a year after being acquired, specialty chemicals distributor Maroon Group LLC has made an acquisition of its own.
Avon, Ohio-based Maroon — whose portfolio includes additives and pigments for plastics and many other markets — has acquired D.B. Becker Co. Inc. for an undisclosed price. Becker is a specialty chemicals distributor based in Clinton, N.J.
Becker was founded in 1954 and supplies raw materials for plastics, paints, coatings and other markets. “We are honored to complete this acquisition, which is our first step in a multi-tiered growth strategy,” Maroon President and CEO Mark Reichard said in a July 31 news release.
Private equity firm CI Capital Partners LLC of New York acquired a majority stake in Maroon in June 2014. At the time, CI officials said that Maroon was well-positioned to grow organically and through acquisitions.
CI's other plastic-related holdings include packaging maker IntraPac Group of Mississauga, Ontario; blow molder KIK Custom Products of Concord, Ontario; and vinyl siding extruder Ply Gem Holdings Inc. of Cary, N.C.
