HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. — Auxiliary equipment maker Charles Ross & Son Co. has added 30,000 square feet of manufacturing space, and increased employment to more than 165 people, at its factory in Wuxi, China, Ross Vice President of Corporate Operations Joseph Martorana announced Aug. 31.
The company already plans to build a new factory in Wuxi.
The expansion enables the operation, Ross Wuxi Equipment Co. Ltd., to handle a surge in new orders from various process industries, particularly from Chinese battery producers.
Charles Ross & Son, based in Hauppage, manufacturers industrial mixing, blending, drying and dispersion equipment. The Wuxi factory builds planetary mixers, multi-shaft mixers and high-speed dispersers, as well as pressure vessels, reactors and custom agitators for customers in China, neighboring Asian countries, Europe and South America.
Even with the increased manufacturing capability, Ross Wuxi, headed by General Manager George Lu, expects more rapid growth — and company officials expect to begin construction in 2016 of a new 200,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in 2016.
Charles Ross & Son expanded its production in India earlier this year, opening a new plant in Pune that makes mixing, blending, drying and dispersion equipment.
The plants in China and India are wholly owned subsidiaries.
