Berlin Packaging LLC, a distributor of rigid plastic containers, continues to grow with the acquisition of Vivid Packaging Inc. of Cleveland.
The deal is Berlin Packaging's fifth acquisition since 2010.
“Uniting with Berlin Packaging is the ideal next step that takes my organization to a whole new level,” said Allan Saltz, who started Vivid Packaging in 1999.
This is the first acquisition for Chicago-based Berlin Packaging since the company was purchased by Oak Hill Capital Partners, a private equity firm, last year for $1.43 billion from Investcorp.
Vivid Packaging brings an office and warehouses in Cleveland and strengthens Berlin Packaging's presence in the Midwest, the company said.
“Each of our four acquisitions we made in 2010 and 2012 expanded our geographic footprint as well as the resources and capabilities available to assist customers with growing their bottom lines,” CEO Andrew Berlin said in a statement. “This one achieves the same objectives, and we are confident that it will be successful because of Vivid's vertical market focus and growth culture fit so well with ours.”
Previous Berlin Packaging acquisitions included: All-Pak of Pittsburgh, Continental Packaging Solutions of Chicago, Lerman Container of Naugatuck, Conn., and United States Container Corp. of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., the company said.
Berlin Packaging also distributes glass and metal containers and closures.
Vivid Packaging does business in 25 states, Canada and Mexico. With the new deal, Berlin Packaging has more than 90 locations and 600 employees.
