Uniroyal Global Engineered Products Inc., a leading supplier of vinyl coated fabric materials for the automotive and commercial industries, has completed the new production line at its Lancashire, United Kingdom facility.
The Sarasota, Fla.-based firm has spent $4 million on the upgrade, which began in early 2014. The investment has resulted in increased capacity of 6.4 million yards of material a year.
Howard Curd, co-chairman and chief executive of the company, said: “When we acquired the U.K. facility, we planned to invest capital to improve its manufacturing capabilities, and we are excited about the completion of this phase. We expect the new production line to further advance the manufacturing efficiencies and margins of this facility.”
Back in 2013, Uniroyal announced that it had merged with Lancashire-based Wardle Storeys Ltd., to expand its reach into Europe.
Curd added: “The acquisition of Wardle Storeys has proven to be an outstanding addition to the company's abilities in achieving its global strategy. The acquisition has confirmed our strategic vision of increasing our footprint, resulting in more diversified customer base and product capabilities.”
