A new program developed by the Association of Postconsumer Plastic Recyclers aims to recognize innovations by APR members “that have a positive impact on the ability of a package or container to be recycled,” the trade group said.
APR is accepting nominations for the first annual APR Plastics Recycling Showcase through Oct. 31.
“We recognize that innovation drives the growth of recycling, and is essential to the success of the plastics recycling industry,” said John Standish, APR technical director, in a statement. “The APR Plastic Recycling Showcase will identify, highlight and commend the industry's leading innovations developed by APR member companies that support the growth of plastics recycling.”
Areas that could be recognized through the program, APR said, include: packaging products, processing equipment, a recycling process step, bale capability, collection or supply capability for postconsumer plastics, and postconsumer resin products, applications of postconsumer resin or products with high postconsumer resin content.
An APR selection committee will determine showcase recipients, who will then be recognized at the Plastics Recycling Conference on Feb. 1 in New Orleans.
