Covestro AG, formerly Bayer MaterialScience, is to highlight the role of Bisphenol A (BPA) in modern plastics at this year's Fakuma trade fair in Germany.
The chemical giant said BPA was one of the most thoroughly studied chemical substances in the world, used in the production of high-performance polycarbonates.
But it said it recognized that public opinion was still divided on its use as a raw material
Sven Gestermann, Covestro's global product steward for polycarbonates and chairman of the polycarbonate-BPA product group at Brussels-based trade body PlasticsEurope, said the firm wanted to provide customers and visitors to Fakuma with the “desired information” about BPA and answer their questions.
“One of our aims in this is to help make the discussions more objective,” he added.
Covestro, based in Leverkusen, Germany, is a leading supplier of polycarbonate resins.
Fakuma is set for Oct. 13-17 in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
