German flexible packaging producer Südpack Verpackungen GmbH & Co. KG has boosted its film decoration capability with the acquisition of Polish packaging and flexographic print specialist Bahpol Sp. z.o.o.
Bahpol, based at Kłobuck near Częstochowa in southern Poland, has built up a reputation over 20 years for its flexographic printing expertise and innovative packaging manufacture. It has a range of advanced print machinery and was a pioneer in Poland with HD flexo technology.
Today, the Polish firm is a leader in the production of high quality decorative packaging and operates one of the most modern printed packaging plants in Eastern Europe, Südpack said in a news release about the acquisition. Bahpol supplies a range of laminates, foil bags and biodegradable packaging.
"Established especially for flexographic printing, the company will expand our capabilities," said John Remmele, Südpack managing partner. "We can now serve our international customers even better."
The takeover by Südpack, a family owned group based at Ochsenhausen, Germany, underlines its international growth strategy. The firm, which specializes in production of rigid and flexible film and bag conversion, has manufacturing sites in France, Switzerland and Germany.
The company's product range includes medical packaging including sterilizable seal pouches produced in clean room conditions by the group's subsidiary Südpack Medica. The group offers general decoration capacity in the form of flexographic, rotogravure and digital printing facilities.
Südpack, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, employs 1,100 and achieved annual sales of 340 million euros ($384.5 million) in 2014.
