Resin distributor Amco Polymers has added ABS and specialty styrenic resins from Ineos ABS to its product mix.
The agreement was effective Aug. 1 and adds Lustran-brand and Lustran Elite-brand ABS, Triax-brand ABS blends and Lustran-brand SAN and SMA to products offered by Orlando, Fla.-based Amco.
“Adding ABS and other resins from Ineos clearly gives us an advantage in the market,” Kevin Wettstein, vice president and general manager, said in a recent phone interview. “This allows us to shore up our specialty styrenics. It fills some gaps in our lineup.”
The largest specialty styrenics market for Amco is automotive, including in-dash parts, he added. Next up would be consumer products such as drinkware where clarity is needed.
Amco will continue to offer similar specialty styrenic resins from Styrolution. Both Styrolution and Ineos ABS are owned by Ineos Group of Rolle, Switzerland. In March, Ineos Group announced it was combining Ineos ABS with Styrolution in the Americas.
Amco is a unit of North American distribution leader Ravago Americas. Amco was founded in 1955 and was acquired by Ravago in 2012.
