Extol Inc., a Zeeland, Mich.-based toolmaker that makes welding equipment, introduced Compact Fusion, a servo-driven plastics welder designed for cleanrooms and installations with limited space.
Compact Fusion is intended for applications that are measure six inches to eight inches in area.
The welder features servo-driven actuation on the upper and lower press platens and the heated platen, for control of force, distance and acceleration/deceleration; weld strength; and efficient cycle times.
Extol said hot-plate welding is a good process for a variety of applications, especially ones with contoured surfaces and where internal walls have to be sealed.
Electric doors with safety pressure strips open from both the side and the front to provide operator flexibility and options for assembly orientation. The welder was designed to integrate easily with automation.
Compact Fusion has an Allen-Bradley controller and a large color operator interface.
Extol also makes an ErgoStation for the Compact Fusion, a heavy-duty adjustable machine base for the comfort and safety of the operator.
