In the spirit of Legos and building, Legoland Discovery Center Michigan marked the beginning of construction for the newest attraction at Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills, Mich., on Sept. 28 with a construction truck dumping 50,000 Lego bricks for invited children to play with.
Legoland Discovery Center will be a 32,000-square-foot indoor attraction featuring more than 1 million Lego bricks and themed exhibits including a 4-D theater, two interactive rides, large soft play areas and a uniquely Michigan-themed Miniland display, Legoland General Manager Hayley Anderson said in a news release.
London-based Merlin Entertainments plc will operate Legoland, which is planned to open in the spring 2016. Merlin Entertainments also operates Sea Life Michigan Aquarium, which opened in January at the The Taubman Co. shopping center.
