Seeking consistency in its production, I-Lighting LLC is getting into the injection molding business to produce its own parts.
“We're in an industrial park so we leased the next bay to create an injection molding shop,” said John Gentile, the injection molding manager for North East Md.-based I-Lighting, during a phone interview
Gentile, who has 25 years of molding experience, comes to I-Lighting to head what is a new division. He formerly worked for True Precision Plastics.
The new space has two Negri Bossi molding machines, an 80 and a 300 ton.
Gentile said that all the machinery is brand new, including a 3-ton bridge crane, a chiller, grinder, blender, and sprue pickers. The company can also do secondary services such as low pressure over molding, sonic welding, assembly and part design.
Scott Holland, president and CEO of I-Lighting started the company about 10 years ago. It produces LED lighting products that are used indoors and outdoors. They are found on decks, for landscaping, on fences and under cabinets.
