Extrusion and packaging firm Tekni-Plex Inc. said Oct. 27 it is adding production of closure liners to its newly acquired factory in India to meet demand in the region for higher quality seals and packaging that meets U.S. regulatory standards.
The Wayne, Pa.-based firm bought Ghiya Extrusions Pvt. Ltd., in Ahmedabad, India, in February to expand regionally and to localize production.
“Brand owners in Asia, the Middle East and Africa seeking high-performing liners that are compliant with U.S. Food & Drug Administration standards, will now have access to a more geographically advantageous supply,” said David Andrulonis, vice president and general manager. “Our new manufacturing capability will also benefit multinational companies who will now have access to the same products, regardless of their global manufacturing location.”
The company will make its Tri-Seal-brand F-217 and F-219 coextruded, three-layer, low density polyethylene liners at the Ghiya facility. The liners are made from foamed and solid LDPE, for the food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical markets.
Those closure liners were previously only manufactured at Tekni-Plex facilities in the United States and Europe.
Ghiya makes coextruded expanded PE cap seals and sells its product lines in south and southeast Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe. Tekni-Plex has 30 manufacturing sites in nine countries.
