Dover Corp., which owns Maag Pump Systems, has acquired Reduction Engineering Scheer Inc., the maker of pelletizers, rotors and pulverizers based in Kent, Ohio.
Reduction Engineering Scheer employs 125 people at its factories in Kent and Stuttgart, Germany, and a service center in Shanghai.
A few days before the formal announcement, Reduction first posted on its website that it was “Now teamed up with a powerful source in the industry,” together with the Maag logo. A Maag Pump spokeswoman confirmed Nov. 4 that Dover has purchased Reduction Engineering and will integrate the company into Maag.
Both companies will continue to use their existing brand names: Maag Pump Systems, Automatik Pelletizing Systems, Gala Industries and Reduction Engineering Scheer.
The new owner has no immediate plans to move manufacturing from Kent, the spokeswoman said.
The businesses will be headed by Maag President Ueli Thuerig. Maag Pump, based in Oberglatt, Switzerland, is owned by Dover Corp., a publicly traded company based in Downers Grove, Ill.
The Reduction Engineering acquisition follows soon after Maag bought Gala Industries Inc. which makes underwater pelletizers, centrifugal pallet dryers and related equipment.
Robert Sly owned Reduction Engineering, and he is the seller.
Terms were not disclosed for either the purchase of Gala and Reduction Engineering Scheer.
