Indian extruder maker Steer Engineering Pvt. Ltd. said Nov. 5 that it is partnering with the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi to work on joint research and the development of “newer and more sustainable polymers.”
Bangalore-based Steer said the partnership with the Industry Interface Organization at IIT Delhi, called FITT, aims to build stronger links between universities and the plastics industry.
“The collaboration between Steer and FITT is a step towards building a strong connect between the industry and the academia to foster an active community for exchange of knowledge around the development of advanced polymers,” said Babu Padmanabhan, Steer's managing director and chief knowledge officer, in a statement.
The company did not provide more details but said it would work with students at IIT Delhi on research projects and publish joint scientific reports with the school. It said it would supply one of its Omega 1.71 extruders to the partnership.
