Rigid plastic container distributor Berlin Packaging LLC is making another acquisition, this time in California.
The Chicago-based packaging supplier is acquiring Diablo Valley Packaging Inc. of Fairfield, Calif., and adding $125 million in annual sales in the process.
The deal, Berlin's second in three months, boosts Berlin's business in California and the Pacific Northwest, the company said.
“Joining forces with Berlin Packaging aligns Diablo with a nimble innovator in the packaging space while also expanding opportunities for our employees, customers and suppliers,” Diablo Valley CEO Peter Reno said in a statement. “This is a case of getting bigger and better, accelerating our growth as well as Berlin's, and building a stronger company that can serve the widest possible range of packaging needs.”
This deal, which closed Nov. 10, follows a previous acquisition of Vivid Packaging Inc. of Cleveland in September.
Diablo Valley has warehouses and sales offices concentrated on the West Coast, but also has locations in Texas, Louisiana, New Jersey, Tennessee, Fort Madison, Iowa and Canada, according to its website.
“By combining the strengths of both companies, this acquisition helps us meet our high growth goals and solidifies our position as the industry's largest, most comprehensive, and most customer-focused rigid packaging supplier,” CEO Andrew Berlin said in a statement.
Along with plastic containers, Diablo also distributes glass containers and closures.
