Falls Church, Va. — Sustainability continues to be a major trend driving the food-service packaging industry, according to a new report.
The Foodservice Packaging Institute surveyed companies throughout the industry's value chain, including raw material suppliers, packaging manufacturers, distributors and operators, the Falls Church-based-trade group said.
“When it comes to food-service packaging and the materials used to manufacture them, interest in ‘sustainable,' ‘green' or ‘environmentally-friendly' options continue to be popular. What's notable this year is the overwhelming number of mentions related to compostable packaging,” said FPI President Lynn Dyer in a statement.
“We create this Trends Report each year to help our members understand what's driving sales so they can take advantage of these opportunities and support the changing needs of their customers,” he said.
An executive summary of the report is available here.
FPI members receive the report at no cost. Otherwise, the full report cost $250 for non-members and is available by contacting FPI's Natha Dempsey at [email protected].
