PolyOne Corp. and its employees have embraced the holiday spirit by raising more than $1.5 million for the United Way.
The $1,559,000 donated this year was a record amount for Avon Lake, Ohio-based PolyOne, which ranks as North America's largest compounder and concentrate maker. Money donated as part of the campaign is distributed to United Way chapters throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico, based on the work locations of the more than 2,900 associates who contributed, and any designations they may have chosen, officials said in a recent news release.
PolyOne's campaign consists of localized fundraising activities, including associate contributions, a company contribution, raffles and silent auctions, guest speaker sessions and a special charity golf outing held at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, where 156 of the company's suppliers participated this year.
The golf event, thanks to donations from title sponsor Accenture and the other participating suppliers, generated $695,000, making it the largest charitable golf outing in the state of Ohio, according to Bill Harper, executive director, United Way of Greater Lorain County.
"The generosity of PolyOne associates throughout North America speaks volumes as to their commitment and dedication to giving back to their communities," Harper said in the release. PolyOne president and CEP Robert Patterson added in the release that his firm “is a very special place to work, and that's because of the talented and generous people on our team.”
