Dozens of new jobs are coming to Central Ohio through a $4.5 million investment by food packaging and food service products company Pactiv LLC.
The Lake Forest, Ill.-based company said it will “add at least two new production lines and will bring 65 manufacturing jobs” to the Columbus location.
The expansion will focus on paper products to complement Pactiv's variety of food service and food packaging products, including plastic wrap, containers, cutlery, plates, platters, bowls, cups and trays. The company also makes absorbent pads for meat, fish and poultry and owns the Reynolds brand of foil wraps.
“Our success in Columbus has given us the confidence to keep growing here,” Pactiv CEO John McGrath said in a statement. “We're committed to innovation and growth that meets our customers' needs.”
Hiring will begin during the first three months of next year, the company said.
Pactiv cited “operating costs, proximity to market and available capacity” as key factors in the growth.
The move to expand will generate $2.4 million in annual payroll on top of the $5.7 million in existing payroll, according to the state of Ohio. The Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 1.283 percent, six-year tax credit to help attract the new project.
