Marion, Ohio — John Beary is the new president of HPM North America Corp. in Marion, which sells injection molding machines and die-casting machinery made in China by its parent company, Guangdong Yizumi Precision Machinery Co. Ltd.
The machinery company promoted Beary from HPM's general manager of sales and marketing, a post he has held since 2013. He has played a key role in the introduction of a new generation of injection molding and die-casting machinery, as well as advanced control systems, for the North American market.
William Flickinger moves from president to become HPM North America's vice chairman, chief financial officer, treasurer and project leader for a new 4,500-ton die-casting machine.
Both appointments are effective Feb. 1.
Flickinger has been associated with HPM, formerly located in Mount Gilead, Ohio, from 1968 to 2001 in many roles, including chairman and CEO. He rejoined the organization in 2011 as president of HPM North America.
“John Beary's promotion to president allows me the opportunity to transition into retirement while still fulfilling an important role in the success of HPM North America Corp.,” Flickinger said. “It is a great opportunity for John to lead HPM and work with many fine people at both HPM and Yizumi.”
Beary has 23 years of experience in manufacturing, operations and sales in the plastics and rubber industries. That includes 10 years with HPM. He began his plastics career as a manufacturing manager at Cincinnati Milacron before joining HPM in 1997 as vice president of operations.
Beary left HPM in 2000, but rejoined the company in 2002 when HPM was a division of Taylor's Industrial Services, becoming its national sales manager. He left HPM again in 2007 to join Facts Inc. in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, as director of sales and marketing of the developer of process controls and automation for plastics and rubber manufacturing.
He rejoined HPM in 2013, following Yizumi's purchase in 2011 of HPM's intellectual property.
Beary holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Tulane University and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh's Katz School of Business.
