Englishtown, N.J. — Reiss Manufacturing Inc. has informed the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development through the WARN act that it plans to lay off 125 employees effective March 21.
The company's plastics division is located in Englishtown, specializing in structural foam, high speed injection molding, gas counter pressure molding, gas assist plastic molding and contract manufacturing.
Company officials did not respond to a request for comment.
The longtime family-run operation was founded in 1896. It is ranked 95th in the 2015 Plastics News rankings of injection molders, with sales over $66 million and more than 500 employees.
Reiss Manufacturing also has a facility in Blackstone, Va., where its Ronsil division makes silicone rubber components as well as molding, extruding and calendaring silicone and polymer products. Blackstone also does thermoplastic extrusion of profiles and tubes.
