DuPont Performance Materials is to produce its high-temperature polyamide material Zytel HTN PPA for the first time in Europe with a project at its Uentrop facility in Hamm, Germany.
Construction has started to add Zytel HTN production capacity at the Uentrop facility, and output is scheduled to commence in the summer of 2016.
The move follows a 10 percent increase in Zytel HTN capacity at the group's plant in Richmond, Va., last year. DuPont says it is increasing capacity for the material to meet growing global demand in automotive, electrical and consumer electronics markets.
Richard Mayo, global business director for the nylon and polyester businesses at DuPont Performance Materials, said: “The decision to invest in Zytel HTN production capacity in Europe reflects our firm commitment to the European market and our determination to support the growing demand from customers in Europe with local supply of the products and services they need.”
The Uentrop facility produces various nylon polymers and compounded Zytel resins for a broad range of industries including the automotive, electrical, industrial and consumer markets. In 2015, the facility expanded production of Zytel nylon 6/6 and nylon 6 compounds by 20 percent.
