Alpha Plastics Solutions Inc. has expanded the injection molding side of its business by acquiring the assets of the former Creative Plastics business in West Bend, Wis.
Alpha got seven injection presses in the purchase. The new presses have clamp sizes of about 100 to 700 tons. Alpha's Muskego, Wis., factory, runs 15 presses. Alpha owner and President Tim Hogan said in a phone interview that his firm is leasing the West Bend facility and plans to keep it open under the Alpha name.
“We needed the extra capacity for general growth,” Hogan said. With the extra presses, Alpha is better positioned to take on new jobs from companies wanting to switch their parts to injection molding.
Alpha also does thermoforming, extrusion and coextrusion so it can offer potential customers the option of choosing which plastics process suits them best. Alpha boasts it is a one-stop shop with the three plastics processes and assembly capabilities.
Hogan said his company does a lot of assembly, welding, decorating and other secondary services, which make up about half of the company's sales, and plastics processing accounting for the rest.
“We are extremely diverse,” Hogan noted. Alpha supplies more than 300 customers and for some injection presses it makes up to 2,000 mold changes a year. Contracts range from low to high volumes. Alpha employs about 37.
