PSM International of Youngstown, Ohio, has introduced Mold-Form inserts for molded-in plastics applications.
Mold-Form is a high-strength, cold-formed steel insert that PSM said gives several benefits over higher-cost machined inserts. According to the company, traditionally inserts for plastics have been made of brass and machined by metal cutting, and they have fine knurls and undercuts.
Mold-Form features six large splines and a large undercut, so molding provides a 100 percent fill around the flange, providing exceptional pull-out. The splines give exceptional torque resistance.
