Midland Plastics Inc., a plastic stock shape distributor and custom components manufacturer based in New Berlin, Wis., has acquired Advanced Extrusions Inc. of Franklin, Wis.
Terms were not disclosed for the deal, which the privately held Midland announced Feb. 11 on its Facebook page. A short post says: “The entire custom extrusions operation has been relocated to our headquarters in New Berlin, WI and will continue to operate under the Advanced Extrusions name as a division of Midland.”
Advanced Extrusions designs and manufacturers custom thermoplastic shapes, profiles, rods, tubings and flat stock for a wide range of applications, including agriculture, automotive, construction, housewares, point-of-purchase displays, sporting goods and water treatment.
The acquisition, along with Midland's 70th anniversary and a recent 40,000-square-foot addition onto its New Berlin headquarters, brought Speaker of the House Paul Ryan to the facility on Feb. 19. Ryan, R-Wis., made the trip to congratulate the owners and staff on Midland's longevity and growth in the industry, according to President Mark Hense.
Ryan toured the addition, which gives Midland more space for distribution and custom manufacturing, including new extrusion lines. Afterward, he spoke to the employees and other guests “about the importance of business investment and development in Wisconsin,” Hense said.
Midland has six other locations — three in Wisconsin, two in Iowa and one in Illinois — in addition to its headquarters.
