Baltimore — Graham Packaging Co. L.P. is closing its Baltimore plastic container plant, a move that will cost dozens and dozens of jobs.
The plastic packaging company filed notice with the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation that closure of its facility at 210 Kane Street in Baltimore will impact 79 workers.
Notification on the division's website listed on the effective date as April 1, but a local report from The Baltimore Sun indicated workers will lose their jobs in two rounds of layoffs in April and June.
The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, a federal law, requires companies with more than 100 employees to provide a 60-day notice of plant closings.
