Mesa, Ariz. — Richard Brammer, a retired plastics educator at Ferris State University, died March 11 in Mesa. He was 82.
Brammer was born in Elgin, Ill., and began his professional career as a tool and die maker. He had a keen interest in injection molding and his work played a key role developing patented products for Ideal Industries Inc. in Sycamore, Ill.
His interest in the burgeoning field of plastics led him back to school. After earning his degree, he accepted a position at Ferris State College — now Ferris State University — in Big Rapids, Mich., where he was an associate professor until his retirement.
Brammer was an active member in the Society of Plastics Engineers, and he served as president of the mold making division. He retired in 1997.
Brammer was an active member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Burlington, Ill., and a longtime member of the town council.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 16, at 11 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church in Holland, Mich., Visitation will be on Friday, April 15 from 3-5 p.m. at Dykstra Life Story Funeral Home in Holland.
