Absolute Machinery Corp., part of the Absolute Group of Cos., plans to add 13,000 square feet to its main facility in Worcester, Mass.
“We really continue to invest in our people and our infrastructure,” said Nate Smith, managing director of Absolute Group and president of Absolute Machinery.
“This will help bring together offices, administration and a new showroom,” he said.
The company currently occupies two 25,000-square-foot buildings in Worcester. Smith noted that the expansion plan is drawn up and will be implemented soon. He expects it to take eight to 10 months for it to be built, but a firm timetable in not in place.
Absolute also has a facility in Parma, Ohio, and in Chicago.
Absolute Machinery buys and sells used equipment, but Smith noted that its services are far-ranging in that it can help set up a complete factory overseas in China or appraise equipment so that a company can get a loan.
Smith, Mike Ortolano and Glenn Frohring started Absolute Machinery in 2000. It is now part of group of companies that also includes Absolute Haitian Corp., Absolute Green Energy Corp. and Absolute Robot Inc.
The Massachusetts Housing and Economic Development office said the company is investing $1.025 million to create six jobs and retain 14. The city of Worcester is awarding the company a 10-year tax increment financing agreement worth $77,899. The state also has approved $45,000 in tax credits.
