TricorBraun, which calls itself the largest distributor of rigid packaging in North America, is getting bigger.
The St. Louis-based company is acquiring the Packaging Design Group, another distributor of rigid packaging, based in Hunt Valley, Md.
PDG will keep its name and become a division of TricorBraun.
“The Packaging Design Group is a perfect fit for what we're trying to accomplish,” TricorBraun CEO Keith Strope said in a statement. “Integrity and talent have always been the cornerstone of our growth. The folks at the Packaging Design Group have plenty of both. Their extensive knowledge and experience along with their customer service focus are what make them so attractive.”
Peter Kallman, a founding partner of PDG, said in a statement his firm brings “a unique expertise particularly in the nutraceutical, pharmaceutical and healthcare markets that should create opportunities for TricorBraun as well.”
The deal includes a wholly owned subsidiary, Packaging Design Ltd., in the United Kingdom.
TricorBraun is owned by CHS Capital, a private equity firm based in Chicago. TricorBraun has more than 40 locations around the world and annual sales of $1 billion.
