Bemis Co. Inc. is acquiring the medical device packaging operations of SteriPack Group, which will keep its contract manufacturing business.
The deal includes a manufacturing site and employees in Clara, Ireland, as well as packaging business and converting assets at SteriPack sites in Lakeland, Fla., and Klang, Malaysia.
SteriPack said it will retain its contract manufacturing service business at the sites in Florida and Malaysia, as well as one in Jelcz-Laskowice, Poland.
“This acquisition supports Bemis' strategy to grow our healthcare packaging business,” Bemis CEO William Austen said in a statement. “SteriPack's strong customer relationships and modern clean room operations will complement our new and expanding global health care operations.”
The acquisition, expected to be completed April 29, will be “modestly accretive” to earnings per share this year, Bemis said.
“We believe that Bemis will continue to build upon the strong customer relations and world-class operations established by SteriPack over the last 21 years,” SteriPack founder and CEO Garry Moore said in a statement. “We look forward to focusing on the development of our contract manufacturing business across the globe.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Bemis said the operations being acquired had annual net sales of about $65 million for fiscal year 2015.
