Berry Plastics Group Inc.'s subsidiary in Canada is adding 16 new jobs through a $7.8 million project in Belleville, Ontario.
Berry Plastics Canada is receiving $780,000 from the Eastern Ontario Development Fund to help pay the work.
“Berry Plastics Canada will invest in new technology to help double production of stretch films, which its clients use to secure products to pallets during distribution,” the economic development fund said in a statement.
Along with creating the new jobs, the fund said the project will help retain 50 jobs at the site.
“Berry Plastics is an important part of Ontario's manufacturing base, and an important employer in the region,” said Lou Rinaldi, member of provincial parliament for Northumberland-Quinte West.
Berry Plastics is based in Evansville, Ind.
