CMT Europe BV, the primary distributor of Hytac-brand syntactic foam materials for plug-assist in thermoforming, made by CMT Materials Inc., is expanding its plant in the Netherlands, at the city of Waalwijk.
Conor Carlin, sales and marketing manager for CMT Materials in Attleboro, Mass., said the expansion will help the company expand into new markets in Europe, support its customers and penetrate new growth opportunities.
“We're very pleased with the steady increase in business we've seen in Europe,” Carlin said. “This expansion positions us for further growth in key European markets.”
According to the news release about the Dutch expansion, CMT Europe BV is a separate, standalone company that distributes the line of CMT's Hytac foams, does direct customer support, offers short lead times and does custom-cutting for the thermoforming industry.
“The new, permanent location gives us 2,152 square feet of office and warehouse space, effectively doubling our older temporary space,” said Luc Hoefnagels, sales manager at CMT Europe.
Carlin said the new facility will help support business in areas where thermoforming is growing — noting strong growth for plug-assist materials in packaging such as ready-made food trays, dairy containers and coffee capsules. “The increased use of barrier and multilayer films require engineered plug-assists to optimize distribution and ensure quality parts,” he said.
