Cranston, R.I. — Nelipak Corp. has expanded its footprint in the Caribbean, buying Tegrant Alloyd Brands of Puerto Rico Inc., a thermoformer in Juncos, Puerto Rico, on July 7.
Terms were not disclosed. The seller was Hartsville, S.C.-based Sonoco Products Co.
TABPR makes trays, clamshells and blister packaging for medical device and pharmaceutical customers in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.
Cranston-based Nelipak has 600 employees at five manufacturing sites in the United States, the Netherlands and Costa Rica. Originally part of Sealed Air Corp., Nelipak was purchased by private equity firm Mason Wells in 2013.
Nelipak Healthcare Packaging ranked 33rd in Plastics News' most recent survey of North American thermoformers, with estimated sales of $47 million, all in the health care market.
