Luxembourg-headquartered automotive interiors supplier International Automotive Components has announced that its Prestice 2 production facility in Prestice, Czech Republic, is fully operational. The plant is currently producing IAC's lightweight injection molded inner dash insulation for interior acoustical performance for two European original equipment manufacturer customers.
In the future the plant will also produce door trim and the facility is expected to reach full capacity in 2018, states the company.
Marcus Nyman, senior vice president European cockpit & overhead systems business unit of IAC said: “IAC is a world leader in injection molding and operates more than 1,000 machines around the world. Leveraging this extensive product and process development expertise, we have been able to offer our customers unique lightweight insulation solutions and ensure flawless production starts.”
IAC says that the new 18,000 square meter facility is producing its injection molded dash inner, which provides an estimated 40 percent weight reduction compared to a conventional vacuum-formed product. It also currently produces trunk trim and dash insulation components for the Opel Astra.
The company's 2015 sales were $5.9 billion and it currently operates 83 manufacturing facilities in 20 countries. Globally IAC employs more than 32,000.
