Shenzhen, China — DuPont Performance Materials inaugurated its largest compounding plant on July 19.
The Apollo plant, located in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, produces a variety of DuPont products, including Zytel nylon, Crastin polybutylene terephthalate, Delrin acetal (POM) resins, Bynel adhesive resins, and Fusabond resins, to primarily serve automotive, industrial and consumer and packaging markets in both China and the Asia Pacific region.
The new facility incorporates the latest compounding technologies and features a number of innovations to deliver consistent high quality and increased productivity, including faster transitions between different product families and shorter delivery cycles, according to the company.
“The technology advancements enable consistent delivery of high quality product and will strengthen our position as a market leader with innovative, high-quality DuPont products produced in a timely and responsive manner,” said Randy Stone, president of DuPont performance materials.
Stone also noted that the new site was built for future expansion.
The facility is the largest in DuPont's global manufacturing network. It houses larger extruders that deliver a higher volume output with increased efficiency, automation from silo to extruder, and fully automated product packaging.
“This is a major investment in DuPont Performance Materials' largest market, China, and in our fastest growing area, Asia,” said Tony Su, president, DuPont Asia Pacific.
Coperion supplied the extrusion equipment for the facility.
DuPont declined to reveal the capacity of the site.
