Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd. has won the Process Innovation Supplier award from medical technology company Becton, Dickinson & Co.
Schöttli, a unit of Husky, supports Becton Dickinson for its global supply programs of molds for a range of medical products, including high-speed, high-precision syringe components molds and high-volume disposable insulin molds.
Husky bought Schöttli in 2013, and the Bolton, Ontario injection press and hot runner maker has worked to integrate the mold company into the Husky family of products.
“Becton Dickinson places a strong emphasis on advancing the world of health,” said Johannes Strassner, vice president of Husky's medical business unit. “We are fortunate to be able to partner with a company like this and contribute to such an important global initiative.”
Schöttli has had a close working relationship with Becton Dickinson for near 50 years. Currently, there are more than 500 Schöttli molds running at 18 Becton Dickinson sites around the world, including some more than 30 years that are still producing quality parts, Husky officials said.
In other news, Husky hosted a two-day World Tour event at its global hot runner factory in Milton, Vt., on June 7-8. More than 90 molders and mold makers from across North America attended.
