Westlake, Ohio — Nordson Corp. is using its BKG product brand name for its melt delivery products including filtration systems, ovens, gear pumps and valves.
The BKG brand now includes melt filtration systems, gear pumps and valves that had been offered under Kreyenborg brand, as well as screen changers, ovens and gear pumps previously sold under the Xaloy brand.
Westlake-based Nordson will continue to use the Xaloy brand for screws and barrels for extrusion and injection molding.
In 2013 Nordson bought German sister companies Kreyenborg GmbH — a maker of screen changers and melt filters — and underwater pelletizer manufacturer BKG Bruckmann & Kreyenborg Granuliertechnik GmbH. Both companies were part of Kreyenborg Group in Münster, Germany.
Nordson will move the melt delivery systems business it bought from Kreyenborg from its existing facility in Münster and combine it with the BKG pelletizer business nearby. Nordson will expand the facility housing the combined operations in Münster to about four times its current size to optimize production and accommodate future growth.
“We will be adding advanced engineering and manufacturing systems, a new warehouse and inventory system, a dedicated aftermarket section and an expanded technology center,” said Godfrey Sandham, vice president responsible for the polymer products business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. “This project will increase our support for customers throughout the world by expanding our capabilities for manufacturing, processing trials, startup assistance, technical support, spare parts and refurbishment of all Nordson melt processing equipment.”
Nordson announced the changes on Aug. 8. The company also announced the new brand names for the polymer melt delivery equipment: BKG HiCon Filtering System for self-cleaning systems, BKG NorCon Screen Changers, BKG BlueFlow for gear pumps and BKG HyFlex for valves.
“The expansion in Münster is part of a substantial global investment by Nordson in its polymer processing range of products, including other expansion projects and investments in Europe and China, a buildup of the support team around the world, and innovations for each of our polymer product families,” said John Keane, Nordson's senior vice president.
At the K 2016 show, Nordson will reveal several product innovations for the BKG, EDI and Xaloy product brands.
