Premium Waters Inc. is building a new $25 million plant to manufacture and fill water bottles in Hinds County, Miss.
The new project will create 42 jobs, according to the Mississippi Development Authority.
“We went through a rigorous site selection process and are very pleased to have selected Hinds County to build our technically advanced bottled water facility,” said Bernie Zarda, Premium Waters vice president of supply chain, in a statement. “Hinds County and the Jackson area met our criteria for investment including a supportive labor market and excellent access to our customers in the region.”
The new 210,000-square-foot plant will be in the J.C. “Sonny” McDonald Industrial Park. Work on the site is slated to begin this month. Production is expected to start in April, the state agency said.
The Development Authority is working with the company on infrastructure and site improvements, and the county also is chipping in with infrastructure improvements, the state reported.
“Premium Waters' decision to invest in Hinds County and add more than 40 new career opportunities for the people of Central Mississippi will strengthen the region's economy for generations to come,” authority Executive Director Glenn McCullough, Jr. in a statement.
Premium Waters, based in Minneapolis, has production and distribution facilities largely in the Midwest, but also has a production in Tennessee, Georgia and Texas, according to the company's website. The new production facility near Jackson is about half way between production locations in Douglas, Ga., and Fort Worth, Texas.
Water bottle sizes include 10 ounce, 20 ounce, half liter and 1 liter. While the company makes private label products, the firm also has company brands such as Water Joe, Nicolet, Chippewa Spring Water, Glacier Clear, Glenwood, Kandiyohi and Nature's Crystal.
