Wilmington Machinery recently shipped its first three-layer dual parison blow molding machine to a customer that produces a 100-milliliter lightweight container.
The company from Wilmington, N.C., claims to be the first company to design and build a high-speed rotary machine specifically for small, single-serve bottles, and the first to design a rotary extrusion blow molder to run a six-second cycle. Today the company is working on reduce to that to a five-second cycle.
Wilmington Machinery has models running 48,000 bottles per hour and a new design in engineering now that is capable of 60,000 an hour.
The company continues to focus on high-speed rotary machines for dairy, juice, yogurts and food applications.
Work is underway to introduce a new multi-cavity linear blow molding machine for making heavy-wall containers and automotive parts, one that is capable of a calibrated neck with in-machine deflashing, officials said.
