Super Brush LLC recently celebrated the completion of a $3 million investment and expansion of its manufacturing plant in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield, Mass.
The company added 10,000 square feet to its current home and plans to add four or five extruders as well as additional molding equipment. The first of the new extruders has already been installed.
Super Brush also added a water filtration systems and automated packing equipment. To support a growing medical business, it plans to add clean room capabilities, more packaging for sterile product lines and more automation.
The company had leased the building, but purchased it in December 2015 when it began planning the expansion.
Super Brush makes foam applicators and swabs, and has been in operation for more than 60 years. It currently employs 95 in its automated facility.
“As a global supplier of technically advanced foam products, western Massachusetts has been our home base and provided a talented workforce for a very long time,” said Misty McGinnes, general manager, in a statement.
The company said it has had annual sales growth in the double digits. The extra space will be used to serve aerospace, medical, pharmaceutical, industrial and firearm customers.
Super Brush has more than 3,000 standard parts and can customize its foam swabs to address challenging situations. It prides itself on providing solutions for applying, collecting, or spreading material through its applicators or swabs.
The company sells its branded products in retail stores, websites, and catalogs and through its website.
